ATLANTA–Dean Thaxton, LLC, has received several media requests asking for comment on the recent fire at the Bell Collier Village apartment complex in Atlanta.
We do not have any specific information about the fire, and we do not represent anyone affected by the fire, at this time. However, we are aware of several situations where investors have owned and operated apartment complexes within the City of Atlanta in a way that cuts costs, increases rent, and puts residents at risk, all in the pursuit of maximum profits.
To the extent investors are putting Atlanta residents at risk, we hope that the City is committed to take a long hard look at whether all applicable fire and safety ordinances are being enforced, residents’ concerns are being taken seriously on the frontend, legitimate and genuine investigations are completed after fire events to audit compliance with relevant fire and safety ordinances, and any gaps in such ordinances are promptly identified and corrected.
